TEAK

The upper floors of Tree House will all be finished with reclaimed teak: parquet in the study and bedroom, strip in the bathroom.

Teak is a tropical hardwood with a beautiful colour, grain and perfume. It is also something you should not dream of buying new unless you are absolutely sure of its provenance (i.e. it must have FSC accreditation).

There is a significant market in reclaimed teak in the UK because it was used in many Victorian buildings. Teak furniture is also easy to come by, though this market reflects its popularity with G-Plan and other 1970s manufacturers.

Our reclaimed teak was supplied by Lassco Flooring: 020 7394 8061, www.lassco.co.uk.

Our McIntosh teak sideboard was bought on Ebay (as was most of our furniture).
